The Titans and Dragons’ thrilling clash has gone to Golden Point!

The Titans started off on the right foot, opening up the scoring in the sixth minute. Toby Sexton put a bomb up for Phillip Sami who batted it back for Corey Thompson who passed onto AJ Brimson to score.

They were handed a golden opportunity when Dragons veteran Josh McGuire was sin-binned for a professional foul.

But the Dragons not only repelled the Titans, they scored.

However the Titans hit back just seven minutes later to snatch the lead.

The Dragons responded with a try and penalty goal. It looked like they would escape with the win until Jarrod Wallace crashed over

The game went into Golden Point after neither time could score points after Wallace’s try.

Jarrod Wallace crashed over off a Tanah Boyd ball. Jamayne Isaako slotted the conversion to lock scores up 16-all with seven minutes left.

The Dragons extended their lead through Moses Suli who proved to be too big and too powerful to tackle. Ben Hunt was instrumental in the lead-up.

The Dragons edged their noses in front after Zac Lomax slotted a penalty goal from the sideline.

Jack de Belin scored a crucial try. Zac Loimax converted to lock up scores 10-all with just over 20 minutes to go.

Fox League captured a dejected Josh McGuire taking his boots off in the sheds at half time, suggesting his night was over. Sideline reporter Jake Duke reported McGuire had suffered a groin injury. It was a sad ending for the veteran’s 250th NRL game.

The Titans hit back off the boot of Toby Sexton once again. Sexton put a grubber in for Beau Fermor who appeared out of no where to ground the ball. But Dragons fullback Tyrell Sloan didn’t buy the grounding to scooped up the ball and ran 70 metres before being dragged down by opposing No.1 Jayden Campbell. It ended up being a waste because the bunker eventually awarded Fermor the try.

The Dragons were awarded a penalty and ignored calls from the bench to take a shot at goal and it paid off. Ben Hunt backed himself and threw a long pass to Moses Suli who sent winger Mat Feagai over for a four-pointer.

After defending their line for 16 minutes, the Dragons copped an untimely blow when Josh McGuire was sin-binned for making a tackle despite never getting back on side.

The Titans got on the board first. Toby Sexton put a bomb up for Phillip Sami who batted it back for Corey Thompson who passed onto AJ Brimson to score.

The Gold Coast’s last win came in dramatic fashion against the Wests Tigers but since then the Titans have struggled to find form.

Coach Justin Holbrook has made a few changes this time around though, with Jayden Campbell returning at fullback, pushing AJ Brimson to five-eighth.

Patrick Herbert and Kevin Proctor also miss out in the new-look line-up with Esan Marsters and Jarrod Wallace taking their places.

Brian Kelly was a late scratching due to an illness with Phillip Sami shifting to the centres and Corey Thompson — who was initially dropped — coming into the 17.

Whether all of those changes will be enough to spark something from the Titans remains to be seen.

As for the Dragons, they had a mini-resurgence but crashed back to earth last week after a 42-6 defeat to the Storm.

Coach Anthony Griffin has also made some major changes to his spine. Andrew McCullough is out with a thumg injury, which sees Moses Mbye moving to hooker and Tyrell Sloan recalled to the 17 at fullback.

It will be Sloan’s first NRL game since March after he was controversially dropped after the first three games.

Jack de Belin will start at lock with Tariq Sims dropping back to the bench.
