The Berlin Family Food Pantry serves residents of Berlin, as well as non-residents who are employed by the Town of Berlin, or students/families in the Berlin school system. Nashoba Symphonic Band: preparing for the 2022-2023 season. All concerts will take place in the auditorium of Nashoba Regional High School, Route 117 (12 Green Road) in Bolton. Admission is free and open to the public. The theme for the season is “Joy in Form.” The band welcomes new players at the beginning of each season. There are no auditions, but adult membership is limited to a certain number within each section. Students (grade 8 and above) are required to present a recommendation from their school music director or private instructor. Care Closet: at Nashoba Regional High School is stocked and products are available to students over the summer. Students can contact Tracy Landry, school librarian, tlandry@nrsd.net, or Emily Chaves, library assistant, at echaves@nrsd.net with a list of requested items. Care bags will be put together for pick up at the high school office. Donations accepted of gently used clothing, cold weather gear, personal care products and school supplies.  There is a bin located in the foyer at NRHS, 12 Green Road.

New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill: Uprooted Land Art, by W. Gary Smith, runs through Nov. 1. The Ramble is open  with a new children's garden. Summer evenings in August every Thursday, with small bites, craft beers and wine, hikes and sunsets over the reservoir. Visit www.nebg.org for information and registration. The exhibit, Enchanted Forest: Nature-Inspired Fairy Houses, by Sally J. Smith, will be open Sept. 10 through Oct. 30 in The Ramble, an accessible garden for children and families; four child-sized fairy houses topped with living roofs and several larger-than-life illuminated mushrooms will complement the exhibit; there will be daytime and some evening events scheduled on Fridays.

Summer Star Wildlife Sanctuary: trails open Saturdays through Tuesdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The exhibit, "The Sanctuary of Nature," by the Rockport Art Association and Museum," is on view through Sept. 11 at the Linden Street Gallery, 690 Linden St. The exhibit showcases the landscapes and seascapes of Cape Ann in every season. Register to vote: The town clerk reminds residents that the last day to register to vote in the Sept.6 primary is Saturday, Aug. 27. Registration will be held at the Town Hall, 242 Church St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Apply for cultural grants: The Clinton Cultural Council announces the opening of the state cultural grants on Sept. 1 and running to Oct. 15.

The local council awards annual grants to promote cultural events and activities for Clinton. Last year, 17 grants were funded for $11,600 to local artists, musicians and agencies. The state determines how much money is available to each community.

Museum of Russian Icons:  "Tea is for Tradition" exhibit, through Oct. 2, featuring an array of objects associated with tea drinking and the infusion of tea culture in Russian Art, craft and literature, including samovars, wooden dolls. "Images of Atheism: The Soviet Assault on Religion," through Oct. 2. Hours, Thursday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., no reservations needed. Item Appeal Representatives: will meet with clients the first and third Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m., in the basement of St. John's Church. The next sessions are Sept. 7 and 21. Subject to change due to volunteer availability. Masks required. Money is not given out at the time; this is to fill out the forms to start the process. Funds are still very limited, but representatives will try their best to help those in need.

Clinton High School Food Pantry: open for students and families needing assistance. There is new clothing, personal care items and food to students in need. There are grab-and-go, easy to prepare meals, toiletries and a small selection of diapers. Little Free Pantry Summer Guidelines: New school supplies needed. See school websites for specific supply lists. Suggestions:  #2 pencils, pencil cases, ballpoint pens, three-ring binders, spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, flash drives, pack of dividers, sticky notes, 12-inch rulers, highlighters, glue sticks, new only backpacks for pre-k through high school. Sept. 9 is the end date for school supply donations.  Also accepting diapers, wipes, peanut butter, boxed cereal for children and sugarless/low sugar for older folks. The pantry is located at the First Church, 725 Main St., open 24/7 and stocked by the community for the community.

Proceeds will benefit the Grange Hall Renovation Fund and community service projects.

Cultural Council: announces grant application process begins Sept. 1. Deadline to apply is Oct. 15. Money can pay for local music concerts in the park during summer months, field trips for school children, artists in residence, community events and more. Groups or individuals may also come up with ideas and apply. Friends of the Beaman Library Used Book Sale: Saturday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Gently-used books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and games. Plastic Bag Recycling Program: sponsored by Wachusett Area Rotary Club, the third Saturday of the month. Bring your recyclable plastic bags to the Draught House, 44 West Boylston St., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The goals is to collect 500 pounds of bags within six months with Trex Recycling Programs. All plastic from grocery bags, dry cleaning, newspaper sleeves, product wrap, stretch films, etc., must be clean, dry and free of food residue. Volunteers needed to help. Regional Recycling Center: 131 Raymond Huntington Highway, West Boylston, is open to residents of Boylston, Sterling and West Boylston. Visit wachusettearthday.org for the latest updates on both hours and announcements. Tuesdays, 9-11 a.m.; Thursdays, 4-6 p.m.; and the first and third Saturday of the month, 9 a.m.-noon. Masks are still required inside the ReUse building, but not in the outside areas. Accepting only two boxes per vehicle due to limited volunteers and storage capacity. Face masks are required on the site or in the building. Have your ID ready. The recycle center welcomes home goods, reusable furniture, crafts, sporting goods, fabric, bicycles, school supplies and appliances for swap or to be passed on to families in need. Fees are collected for some items. New volunteers welcome. Check the website, www.wachusettearthday.org, for other fees, hours and virus requirements. The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center will be closed if the actual or perceived (wind chill or real feel) temperature is predicted to be below 10 degrees Fahrenheit during the open hours. The center will be closed for snow if a significant snow event is ongoing into the open hours, or if the total snowfall is greater than four inches within the 12 hours previous to the center being open to the public.
