Tuesday for gyros and more

STEUBENVILLE — The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church’s Philoptochos Society will host a gyro sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the church, located at 300 S. Fourth St., Steubenville.

The gyros are $9 each, and there will be a charge of 25 cents for extra tzatziki sauce.

Other items for sale are koulourakia — twist cookies — at $8 per dozen.

Also available are grape leaves at three for $3.50; spanakopita, $3.50 each; and baklava at $3 each.

Patrons may place phone orders to (740) 282-9835 or Fax orders to (740) 282-2091. Patrons are asked to allow a minimum of 20 minutes for all orders.

There will be free delivery on orders of four or more gyros.

Grace’s Cupboard Food Pantry

STEUBENVILLE — Grace’s Cupboard Food Pantry will be held Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

It will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.

Monday is Family Game Night

NEW CUMBERLAND — The Swaney Memorial Library, located at 210 S. Court St., New Cumberland, invites parents, grandparents and children of all ages to a Family Game Night to be held at the library on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will feature games for all ages, including Monopoly, Uno, Jenga and Apples to Apples. There will be snacks and drawings for prizes and “a night of fun for everyone,” a spokesperson noted.

Event sponsors are the Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network, the library and W.Va. Healthy Grandfamilies.

Weir High School Class of 1967

WEIRTON — Members of the Weir High School Class of 1967 will hold a luncheon on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m. at Theo Yianni’s Restaurant, located at 322 American Way, Weirton.

All classmates and spouses are welcome to attend.

Free yoga class being offered

WELLSBURG — Taylor Provenzano will lead a free yoga class at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Brooke County Public Library.

Participants will learn about the philosophy of yoga as well as proper breathing, postures and movements.

Modifications will be available for those not able to be on the floor. Participants are asked to bring a bath towel or mat.

Brooke County Crochet Club schedules meeting for Sept. 21

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Crochet Club will meet at noon on Sept. 21.

The group is for adults, beginners through experts. Participants should bring their own supplies and projects. For those who need help, someone will be available

to offer assistance or instruction.

Variety of programming events offered at library locations

STEUBENVILLE — A variety of programming events have been planned at the various locations of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, including:

Adults: Tai Chi will meet for its weekly low-impact class on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Children: Sit back and relax to watch a movie with family on Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. Find out what’s playing and register by calling the library.

Children will listen to stories written by author Roald Dahl and make crafts on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.

Teens can stop in anytime for the library’s monthly teen craft day on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. to make a folded book art from a recycled book. Register by calling the library.

Children: Stop in for Play and Learn the Alphabet. Children ages 2-6 will play with toys that promote letter knowledge at Play and Learn the Alphabet on Monday at 11:30 a.m.

Children: Pick up a Grab-and-Go Story Time on Monday while supplies last. It will include an activity and the book, “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves” by Lucille Colandro.

Get creative at the Paint ‘n Sip for Kids on Sept. 17 at noon. Children will paint a hippopotamus. Registration is required.

Children: Help your baby with language development and early literacy skills by attending Babygarten on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Babygarten is for caregiver with baby birth to 2.

Stop in to make a craft on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Children: Stop by for Play and Learn (children birth to age 4) for an hour-long play session on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Teach children to love the library at an early age.
